What are your Reading?

"I've compiled a list of books to read. 101 titles."     ~Emma Woodhouse from BBC's Emma

"Emma has been meaning to read more since she was 10 years old."  ~Mr. Knightly from BBC's Emma

As far as reading goes, I very much relate to Emma.

When I look back on my childhood reading, I see several books that I started, but am not quite sure if I finished them. I never was a big reader. It has definitely gotten better as I have gotten older.

But there still is room for improvement.

So I have compiled a list of books to read over the summer. My list doesn't contain 101 titles, but enough to keep me busy throughout the summer.

1. Anne of Green Gables series

My younger sister, Emily, read the first one for school, and then I decided to take it up. I had seen the movie before I read the book, but sometimes while I was reading the book I felt that the movie had cheated me! If you like the movie, but haven't read the book, it is definitely worth it to read the book. I'm in the middle of the second one now, and hope to finish it before the summer starts.

2. Little Women

Another story which I know from the movie and audio drama, but have never read.

3. Pride and Prejudice

I have seen the BBC miniseries several times, and I read most of it long ago. But alas, I never finished it. So I will begin again.

4. Jane Eyre

I don't know much about this story, but I like what I have heard about the character of Jane Eyre.

A coming-of-age story about a girl living with her aunt.

6. Let Me be a Woman by Elisabeth Elliot

A friend gave me this one for my 17th birthday. It is a collection of letters from Elisabeth to her daughter, Valerie. Sure to be full of godly wisdom!

What about you? Have you read any good books lately? Have you read any of these?

You Walk in Lonely Places

I just bought this song, and it has become a favorite. It is comforting to know when you are lonely, that Jesus suffered from loneliness, too.
